Abstract
Endogenous bacterial endophthalmitis is an intraocular infection arising from haematogenous spread to the eye from a distant anatomical site. We describe a case of bilateral endogenous endophthalmitis caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, an occupational zoonotic pathogen, which was successfully treated with intravenous penicillin G followed by oral linezolid. To our knowledge, E. rhusiopathiae has not previously been reported as a pathogen in this disease.
