Time of sampling Sensitivity Specificity PPV
Sensitivity, specificity, and PPV of thyroid antibody (antimicrosomal and antithyroid peroxidase) in PPTD prediction derived from published studies. Sampling times varied. Early pregnancy: 1st and 2nd trimesters; early postpartum: from delivery to 5 months after delivery; late postpartum: 6 or more months after delivery. Adapted from Premawardhana et al.31
PPTV, postpartum thyroid dysfunction; PPV, positive predictive value.
Early pregnancy 0.67–1.00 0.62–0.93 0.31–0.55
3rd trimester 0.71 0.92 0.52
Delivery/early postpartum 0.45–0.89 0.91–0.97 0.4–0.73
